Taller Maquilishuat was founded in 1972, the period of time in which handcrafts flourished in La Palma with the support of Fernando Llort.  Handcraft making is a family project that promotes not only art as a source of income but also  as a way to unite the family, due to its characteristic production process.  Thus, handicrafts constitute a means of integration and formation for the families of La Palma.
